Feature Friday: Taking the Bull by the Horns

As I was handing Fantasia’s “2012 Top Achiever Award” to Kimberly Grace, I flashed back to a conversation I had with her last year. It was the first time I met her and she said:
“I’m going to win that.”

I thought that was a pretty ambitious, especially since Kimberly had just started her romance party business a couple months before.

That’s our gal, Kimberly!

But guess what?
Some people really thrive on challenges, especially the ones they make to themselves. They don’t blame others for lack of opportunity or lack of resources. They take the literal bull by the horns and do whatever it takes to get it done. And Kimberly is the queen of taking them by the horns!

When people ask you “what do you do?” how do you describe your business?
Without hesitation, I say that I am a Romance Specialist with Fantasia Home Parties. They usually ask “What is that?” and it’s the perfect opportunity to feel them out through conversation before I start blurting out “Hey, I sell sex toys!”  By the time I am done, they have a catalog, business card, samplers and I have them ‘penciled in’ on my calendar!

What is the funniest story or situation you can think of involving your business/what you sell?

I went a little nuts with cash and carry sales at the Fantasia convention this year. My carry-on luggage was full of goodies, one of which was a 12 inch long gag item. That got the TSA a little nervous. It could be considered a weapon?!! Really?
So, when they inspected my bag, I just handed them my card. They smiled and told me to have a nice day.

Besides Fantasia Home Parties, do you have family and/or what else are you involved in?

I am a mother of an AMAZING 20 year old son who is not ashamed at what his mother does!!!  He carries my business cards in his wallet and never misses the opportunity to pass them out. I am a wife to a very supportive and understanding husband that has stood beside me every step of the way.  He has been known to carry a catalog or two and business cards in his lunch box.

What personal goal is your Fantasia business helping you to achieve?
I can honestly say that when I first started selling Fantasia, I did not have a goal in mind.  I had a GREAT job and I was just looking for something to do with my time.  My son was graduating from High School and I needed a hobby.  His baseball and football was coming to an end, leaving me with nothing but boring evenings at home. Since then I have had many changes in my life, some good and some bad. The company that I had worked for for 13 years had to close. And now because I have an AWESOME hobby, so far I have not had to get a day job!

What’s your favorite part of being a Fantasia Romance Consultant?
Every part is my favorite! But to mention a few, I love educating woman and helping them discover themselves and helping them fulfill their needs and wants. I LOVE meeting new people and this is the perfect way to do so. I have made numerous friends along the way and I have met some amazing women too. (And not just from the parties but within the company as well.)
What advice can you give to other women just getting started in the business?
No matter what, don’t get discouraged! Manage your time wisely so you don’t over extend yourself. And never miss a marketing moment: carry catalogs, business cards and samples every where you go! Remember, parties don’t find you, you find them : )
